A new roof frame for a family home in Kendal
The owners were adding a storey, so the old roof came off completely. We cut the new pitched roof in our workshop.
It was up on site in four days. Then the roofers we've worked with for years laid the slates.

How we built a new roof in four days
Monday
We took down the old roof. Some of the beams were rotten in places, as the owners suspected.
Tuesday
The cut frame arrived from the workshop. By evening the rafters on the south side were up.
Wednesday and Thursday
The other side, collar ties and battens. It rained on Friday morning, but by then it was all covered.

An extra storey with a new roof on top, built in four days
A family in Kendal needed more space. The old roof had to come off completely. We prepared the new one in our workshop and assembled it on site before the rains came.
The owners were adding a storey, so the old roof came down to the last beam. We cut the frame in our workshop to the plans and brought it to site as a kit.
Then the roofers we've worked with for years laid the slates. From the first beam to the last batten took four working days.
“One morning we had no roof. By Friday we had fresh spruce over our heads.”Mrs Ellis, the owner
